From 5 July 2025, set off on an adventure along the Stone Guardian

Accessible on foot from the Transarc intermediary (Arc 1800) or from the top of the Vallandry gondola lift (Peisey-Vallandry), this 1.8km themed trail invites you on an immersive walk through history, nature and legends. With a difference in altitude of just 22 metres (depending on which direction you choose) and an estimated duration of 1 hour, it's ideal for a getaway with family or friends.

The Memory of the past

The exploration begins where the mountain still whispers the secrets of an ancient world... At the starting point, you are welcomed either by Thetys the Rock Giant or by a mysterious stone Inuksuk. These silent guardians invite you to follow in the footsteps of a forgotten civilisation that disappeared thousands of years ago.

All along the trail, enigmatic sculptures, strange engravings and marine fossils tell the story of a learned people who lived here long before us, at a time when the oceans covered the Alpine peaks.

The trail is fun and entertaining, with several stops for young and old alike: build a cairn, cross a path of Japanese steps, or reconstruct a stone vault as in days gone by. Each stage invites you to reflect on the traces left by living beings, human or otherwise, in this landscape shaped by time.
